The Go-Go's - Vacation (30th anniversary)

Today, August 11th, also marks the 30th anniversary of the release of the Go-Go's second studio album Vacation.

For my review of this album, please click here.

To celebrate, I am going to cue up this album too and celebrate some 80's rocking girl power.

I am a mad Go-Go's fan, and although "Vacation" is not my favorite album, I still heart it.

One point of disagreement with your review: "It's Everything But Partytime" is not really too much darker than the Go-Go's other stuff. Most of their songs are less cheerful than they at first seem, and that track is only different in that it sounds just as dark as it is.

Neil, thank you so much for the comments. I appreciate them. And I do agree many of their songs are less than cheerfull. I hope you keep reading and commenting.

Neil, FYI - I reviewed the Go-Go's "Beauty and the Beat" previously as well as various of the earlier R.E.M. albums on my blog within the past year and a half. Use the search function to pull them up. I am sure you might be able to greatly educate me on the R.E.M. stuff - their lyrics confuse the heck out of me. ;)
