Pretty In Pink (soundtrack) (30th anniversary)
Welcome to another Soundtrack Sunday.
Today (February 28th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of the soundtrack from Pretty In Pink. The album spent a grand total of twenty-seven weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 5. The album appears on the Huffington Post's list of "Best Movie Soundtracks: the 15 Film Music Compilations That'll Change Your Life" and on Rolling Stone's "The 25 Greatest Soundtracks of All Time".

Olivia Newton-John - Come On Over
This month (February 29th) marks the fortieth anniversary of Come On Over, the sixth studio album from Olivia Newton-John. This 1976 release spent twenty-four weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 13. It also went to number 49 in the UK, number 30 in Canada, number 29 in Australia, number 12 in New Zealand, number 2 in Japan and on the US Billboard Country charts.

Stray Cats - Stray Cats (35th anniversary)
This month marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of the self-titled 1981 debut album from the Stray Cats. Released only in the UK, it peaked at number 6 on the charts. Some of the tracks would appear later in the band's 1982 release Built For Speed, a compilation of their first two records.

Heart - Dreamboat Annie
Today (February 14th) marks the fortieth anniversary of the world-wide release of Dreamboat Annie, the debut album from Heart. This followed the debut in the band's native Canada from late in the summer of 1975, where it went all the way to number 20. The Platinum selling 1976 release hit number 36 in the UK, number 9 in Australia and number 7 on the US Billboard Album chart (with a total chart run of one hundred weeks).

Rush - Moving Pictures
Today (February 12th) marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Moving Pictures, the eighth studio album from the Canadian rock group Rush. This multi-Platinum selling 1981 release went to number 34 in Norway, number 32 in Sweden, number 19 in the Netherlands, number 3 in the UK and number 1 in Canada. Here in the US, it spent sixty-eight weeks on the Billboard Album chart with a top spot of number 3 for three of those weeks.

Phil Collins - Face Value (35th anniversary)
Today (February 9th) marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Face Value, the first solo studio album from the Genesis drummer Phil Collins. The record spent an amazing one hundred and sixty-four weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, achieving a top spot of number 7.

Janet Jackson - Control
Today (February 4th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of Control, the third studio album from Janet Jackson. Working with producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, this 1986 release was a smash hit that combined R&B, rap, funk and dance into a perfect package. The record soared to number 57 in Japan, number 47 in Sweden, number 36 in Germany, number 28 in Switzerland, number 25 in Australia, number in Canada, number 8 in the UK, number 7 in the Netherlands and number 5 in New Zealand. Here in the US, it went to number 1 on both the Billboard Album chart and the R&B chart. Its stay on the former chart was impressive one-hundred and six weeks total run, two of which was at the top spot.

"Weird Al" Yankovic - Another One Rides the Bus
This month marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Another One Rides the Bus, the four song debut EP from "Weird Al" Yankovic. This 1981 comedy release was on the independent Placebo label with only a one thousand copy pressing. Yankovic personally distributed them to various record stores, selling them via consignment deals.
