Tomorrow (November 21st) marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Hi Infidelity, the ninth studio album from REO Speedwagon. This record was hugely popular as the 80's began, hitting number 1 on the US Billboard Album chart (a spot it held for fifteen weeks) and spending a total of one-hundred and one weeks on the chart as well.

REO Speedwagon - Good Trouble

This month marks the thirtieth anniversary of Good Trouble, the tenth studio album from the American rock band REO Speedwagon. This June 1982 release was the follow up to their smash hit Hi Infidelity album (click here for my review of that one). The album went to number 7 on the US Billboard Hot 200, number 7 in Norway, number 39 in New Zealand and number 29 in the UK.

The songs were written by Kevin Cronin (lead singer, piano, and guitars), Bruce Hall (bass, vocals) and Gary Richrath (lead guitar).

REO Speedwagon - Wheels Are Turnin'

Happy birthday to guitarist/singer/songwriter Gary Richrath (born October 18th, 1949). In November of 1984, Richrath and his band REO Speedwagon released their eleventh studio album Wheels Are Turnin’. The record was certified Platinum in both the US and Canada; it made it as high as number 7 on the US Billboard Album chart and number 15 in Canada.

Side one opens with “I Do’ Wanna Know”, the first single from the album. It went to number 29 on the US Billboard Top 40 and number 5 on the US Rock charts. This song has a rollicking, up-tempo energy that makes it fun. It is the type of song that makes want to roll down the windows and crank the stereo up to share with everyone around.

REO Speedwagon - Hi Infidelity

By request from one of my Twitter followers...

Hi Infidelity, released in November of 1980, was the ninth studio album by REO Speedwagon. The band was formed in the late 60's and had growing success in the 70's. But it was this album that represents the peak of their career, going nine-times platinum in sales in the US alone, five-times platinum in Canada, and even more so world-wide. It held the number 1 spot on the US Billboard Album chart for fifteen weeks, with a total chart run of one hundred and one weeks. It also went to number 34 in New Zealand, number 25 in Sweden, number 18 in Germany, number 17 in Norway, number 6 in the UK, and number 1 in Canada. Six singles were released from the album with four making it into Billboard's Top 40 and one achieving the number 1 spot.
