Barry Manilow - This One's For You (40th anniversary)

This month marks the fortieth anniversary of This One's For You, the fourth studio album from Barry Manilow. Like his first three releases, this one from 1976 also went multi-Platinum in the US and rose to the number 6 position on the US Billboard Album chart (with a total chart run of sixty weeks).

Barry Manilow - 2:00 AM Paradise Café

Yesterday (November 15th) marked the thirtieth anniversary of 2:00 AM Paradise Café, the tenth studio album from Barry Manilow. The record went to number 28 in both the UK and on the US Billboard Album chart, spending a total of twenty weeks’ time on the latter chart.

Barry Manilow - Here Comes the Night

Tomorrow (November 17th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of the release of Here Comes the Night, the ninth studio album for American singer-songwriter Barry Manilow. This 1982 record was released in the UK under the title I Wanna Do It With You.

The album was a Platinum seller in both the US and the UK. In the former, it reached number 32 on the Billboard Hot 200. In the latter, it reached number 7 on the charts.

Barry Manilow - This One's For You

Today (June 17th) is the sixty-ninth birthday of American singer-songwriter Barry Manilow. In 1964, he penned his first original score for an off-Broadway musical. In the late 60’s and early 70’s, he had a lucrative career as a commercial jingle writer. At night, he played piano for singer Bette Midler on her albums and tours. He also started to record his own albums.

In 1976, Manilow released his fourth studio album This One’s For You. Like his first three releases, this one too went multi-Platinum in the US and rose to the number 6 position on the US Billboard Album chart.

Barry Manilow - Tryin' To Get the Feeling

Welcome to another edition of Seventies Saturday.

In 1975, Barry Manilow released his third studio album Tryin’ to Get the Feeling. This record continued the popular momentum of his previous release, scoring him a top 10 album (it peaked at number 5). The record went on to be certified as triple platinum.
