Dormammu, Lord of the Dark Dimension has almost completed his conquest of Earth, with a stranglehold on the minds of its citizens. Into the Dark Dimension by Stuart Moore is the third book in this series. Prior to its April 4, 2023, release date, Aconyte Books provided an early galley for review.
Stories like this are exactly what the Marvel Universe is all about. There is such a rich history and pool of characters to draw from, and Moore takes full advantage of that aspect in crafting this epic tale. Besides the crew from previous installments (Dr. Strange, Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Luke Cage, the Guardians of the Galaxy), this time he brings in Tony Stark, Cloak, Dagger, Shang-Chi, Doctor Octopus and more. He manages to juggle this large cast well while moving the story along at a breakneck pace.
And this story is very high stakes. It starts out with Dormammu basically having taken over everything and everyone. This puts our heroes and allies directly behind the eight-ball, forcing them to come back from a place of defeat. The story shows exactly how resourceful our heroes are when facing insurmountable odds. Good stuff. Fans will really appreciate this one.
