Midnight Star - No Parking on the Dance Floor (30th anniversary)

Today (June 6th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of No Parking on the Dance Floor, the fourth studio album from Midnight Star. This twice Platinum selling R&B albums was one of my favorites from the early 80's, a go-to source for getting ready for going out dancing on the weekends.

On this day (June 6th) back in 1978, the Cars released their self-titled debut album. Today we mark the thirty-fifth anniversary of this smash.

Donnie Iris - Fortune 410

This month marks the thirtieth anniversary of Fortune 410, the fourth studio album from Donnie Iris and the Cruisers (Mark Avsec, Marty Lee Hoenes, Albritton McClain and Kevin Valentine). Following 1982’s The High and the Mighty (click here for that review), this one from 1983 went to number 127 on the US Billboard Hot 200.

Motörhead - Another Perfect Day

Today (June 4th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of Another Perfect Day, the sixth studio album from British metal band Motörhead. It went to number 153 on the US Billboard Hot 200, number 20 in the UK and number 18 in Sweden. The line up for the band at this point in 1983 was Lemmy (Ian Kilmister) on bass and vocals, Brian “Robbo” Robertson on lead guitar and piano, and Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor on drums.

America - Your Move

Today (June 3rd) marks the thirtieth anniversary of Your Move, the eleventh studio album from America. Once more, Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell turned to Russ Ballard for both his songwriting and producing skills. This 1983 album followed View From the Ground (click here for that review) and peaked at number 81 on the US Billboard Hot 200.

Bruce Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town

Welcome to another edition of Seventies Sunday.

Today (June 2nd) marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Darkness on the Edge of Town, the fourth studio album from New Jersey rocker Bruce Springsteen. Despite a three year period since 1975’s Born To Run (click here for that review), this multi-Platinum seller from 1978 went to number 75 in Ireland, number 16 in the UK, number 12 in Norway, number 11 in New Zealand, number 9 in Australia and Sweden, number 7 in Canada, number 5 on the US Billboard Hot 200, and number 4 in the Netherlands. It actually remained on the US charts for ninety-seven weeks in total.

The Police - Synchronicity (30th anniversary)

On June 1st of 1983, the Police released Synchronicity, their fifth and final studio album. Ironically, it was the most popular one by the group and included their first and only number one Billboard single. The album also took a stint at the top of the Billboard Album charts, briefly knocking down Michael Jackson’s Thriller. It won a Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group.
