Midnight Star - The Beginning

This month marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of The Beginning, appropriately enough the debut album from Midnight Star. The group got its start when friends began playing together while at Kentucky State University in 1976. This 1980 release came out on Solar Records, home of a number of R&B acts during that decade.

Midnight Star - Planetary Invasion

This month marks the thirtieth anniversary of Planetary Invasion, the fifth studio album from Midnight Star. In the US, it spent thirty-two weeks on the Billboard Album chart with a peak spot of number 32 and climbed all the way to number 7 on the Billboard R&B chart. It also went to number 85 in the UK and number 44 in New Zealand.

Midnight Star - No Parking on the Dance Floor (30th anniversary)

Today (June 6th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of No Parking on the Dance Floor, the fourth studio album from Midnight Star. This twice Platinum selling R&B albums was one of my favorites from the early 80's, a go-to source for getting ready for going out dancing on the weekends.

Midnight Star - No Parking On the Dance Floor

Midnight Star was an electro funk band that originated from Frankfort, KY. On June 6th of 1983, they released their fourth and most successful album of their careers - No Parking On the Dance Floor which went to number 27 on the US Billboard Hot 200 and number 2 on the US Billboard R&B chart.
