Miami Sound Machine - Primitive Love

This month marks the thirtieth anniversary of Primitive Love, the multi-Platinum selling second English-language album and ninth overall from the Miami Sound Machine. It hit number 41 in Sweden, number 30 in the Netherlands, number 23 on the US Billboard Album chart (with seventy-five weeks total on that chart) and number 1 on the US Billboard Latin chart.

Miami Sound Machine - Eyes of Innocence

Today (September 25th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of Eyes of Innocence, the eighth studio album from the Miami Sound Machine. The record, the band’s first on the Epic/Columbia label and first recorded in English, went to number 20 in the UK.

The E Family - Now & Forever

The saying goes “the family that plays together stays together”. If that’s the case, and I certainly believe it is true, the Escovedo family has nothing to worry about.

This first family of Latin-American music is led by their patriarch Pete Escovedo. Born in 1935, he and his two brothers formed the Escovedo Brothers Latin Jazz Sextet. He then worked with Santana and even led the Latin Big band Azteca. His talented children are daughter Sheila E. and sons Peter Michael Escovedo III and Juan Escovedo, all equally famous percussionists and band leaders in their own rights.
