This month marks the thirtieth anniversary of The Story of a Young Heart, the third studio album from A Flock of Seagulls. This was also the last album by the group to feature the original line up; guitarist Paul Reynolds left the band shortly after the album came out. The 1984 release spent ten weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 66. It also went to number 36 in New Zealand, number 32 in Canada, number 31 in Germany and number 30 in the UK.
This is a blog about recreational hobbies that I am interested in (music, TV, movies, books). I also talk about what's on my mind or things that happen in life around me. Please feel free to post comments; I want this to be an interactive dialogue. If you like what you read, please share it with your friends. Thanks.

A Flock of Seagulls - Listen
This month marks the thirtieth anniversary of the release of Listen, the second studio album from the new-wave band A Flock of Seagulls. Following their self-titled debut album (click here for that review) from the previous year, this 1983 sophomore effort did equally well on the charts. It peaked at number 90 in Australia, number 16 in the UK and on the US Billboard Hot 200, and number 14 in the Netherlands.

So, break out that hair gel, swoosh your 'do to one side, and get ready for some celebrating with these new-wave classics.

A Flock of Seagulls - A Flock of Seagulls
A quartet of musicians came from Liverpool, England. No, I’m not talking about the Beatles. I am talking about keyboardist/singer Mike Score (whose birthday is later this week on November 5th), drummer Ali Score, bassist Frank Maudsley (whose birthday is next week on November 10th) and guitarist Paul Reynolds. Together, with their wild hair and new wave groove, A Flock of Seagulls made a lasting impression on the MTV Generation.
Their self-titled debut album A Flock of Seagulls, released in April of 1982 sold well. It went to number 32 on the UK charts and number 10 on the US Billboard Hot 200. It also generated a number of international hit singles. Musically, the song is a concept album about alien abduction with the songs forming a sequential story line.
