Today (July 8th) marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Beauty and the Beat, the debut album from the Go-Go's. This 1981 record spent seventy-two weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, including six at the number 1 spot.

One of the first if not THE first album(s) I bought after finally moving into a house from the campground we had lived for five weeks.
Loved it from the start and love it to this day though gradually my favorites shifted from the sunny, upbeat singles to darker tracks like "Lust To Love" and "This Town".
Will be interesting to see where Beauty & the Beat ends up on My Favorite Albums of 1981 which may or may not be coming "soon". I'm guessing Top 10 maybe even Top 5 but we shall see.
