Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood

American guitarist/singer Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble (Chris Layton on drums and Tommy Shannon on bass) played the 1982 Montreux Jazz Festival and caught the attention of Jackson Browne. He offered the band use of his Los Angeles recording studio; in three days they recorded a demo. This week (June 13th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of Texas Flood, the solo debut multi-Platinum debut. It reached number 38 on the US Billboard Album chart.

Stevie Nicks - The Wild Heart

This week (June 10th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of The Wild Heart, the second studio album from Stevie Nicks. This 1983 release went double-Platinum in the US after peaking at number 5 on the US Billboard Hot 200. It also charted at number 28 in the UK, number 19 in Sweden, number 17 in New Zealand, number 8 in Australia and number 7 in Canada.

The Kinks - State of Confusion

Today (June 10th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of State of Confusion, the twenty-second studio album from the UK rockers the Kinks. This one went to number 12 on the US Billboard Hot 200.

The line-up for this album was Ray Davies (lead vocals, guitar, synthesizer, and piano), Dave Davies (lead guitar and vocals), Mick Avory (drums), Jim Rodford (bass) and Ian Gibbons (keyboards).

Diana Ross - Ross

Following 1982’s Silk Electric (click here for that review), Diana Ross came out with Ross in 1983. This was actually the second time she used just her last name for an album title - the first time being in 1978. This album went to number 59 in Australia, number 57 in Canada, number 44 in the UK, number 32 on the US Billboard Hot 200, number 27 in the Netherlands and number 14 on the US Billboard R&B chart.

The Rolling Stones - Some Girls (35th anniversary)

Today (June 9th) marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of the release of Some Girls, the Rolling Stones' fourteenth studio album. It charted at number 4 in Austria, number 3 in the Netherlands and Sweden, number 2 in the UK, and number 1 in Canada and on the US Billboard Hot 200.

Rod Stewart - Body Wishes

This week (June 10th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of Body Wishes, the twelfth studio album from Rod Stewart. It charted at number 30 on the US Billboard Hot 200, number 19 in Japan, number 15 in Canada, number 14 in Australia, number 6 in the Netherlands, number 5 in the UK, number 3 in Sweden and number 2 in Germany. The cover was a homage of Elvis Presley’s 1959 album 50,000,000 Elvis Fans Can’t Be Wrong.

The Fleshtones - Hexbreaker!

Following up their first full length album Roman Gods (click here for that review) in 1982, the Fleshtones returned to the studio to work on their next release. Today (June 7th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of the release of Hexbreaker!, the 1983 follow-up second album from the band. As with the first album, it too was produced by Richard Mazda.
