Donna Summer - The Wanderer

Today (October 20th) marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of The Wanderer, the eighth studio album from Donna Summer and her first release on the Geffen Records label. This 1980 release spent eighteen weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 13. It also went to number 55 in the UK, number 54 in Germany, number 18 in Australia and Norway, number 16 in New Zealand, number 15 in Sweden, and number 12 on the US Billboard R&B chart.

Laura Branigan - Hold Me

This month marks the thirtieth anniversary of Hold Me, the fourth studio album from Laura Branigan. This 1985 record hit number 75 in Japan, number 71 on the US Billboard Album chart (with a fifteen week total time on the chart), number 64 in the UK, number 43 in Canada, number31 in Germany, number 12 in Norway, number 10 in Switzerland, and number 7 in Sweden.

Beverly Hills Cop (soundtrack) (30th anniversary)

Today (December 5th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of the release of the soundtrack from Beverly Hills Cop. The Grammy Award winning soundtrack spent sixty-two weeks on the US Billboard Album chart and peaked at the number 1 spot. The record featured music from Glenn Frey, Harold Faltermeyer, Patti LaBelle, the Pointer Sisters and more.

Donna Summer - Bad Girls

Today (April 25th) marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Bad Girls, the double-record seventh studio album from Donna Summer. It spent forty-nine weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, including six weeks at the number 1 spot. It also reached number 24 in the Netherlands, number 23 in the UK, number 9 in Japan, number 7 in Germany, number 6 in Australia, number 3 in Norway, New Zealand and Sweden, and number 1 in Canada and on the US Billboard R&B chart.

Laura Branigan - Self Control

This month marks the thirtieth anniversary of Self Control, the third studio album from Laura Branigan. This multi-platinum album went to number 48 in the Netherlands, number 38 in New Zealand, number 23 on the US Billboard Hot 100 (with forty-five weeks total on the chart), number 16 in Australia and the UK, number 13 in Canada, number 5 in Germany and Sweden, number 3 in Norway, and number 2 in Switzerland.

Beverly Hills Cop (soundtrack)

Welcome to another edition of Soundtrack Sunday.

In December of 1984, the cold winter chill was cut by a hot new comedy film starring Eddie Murphy, Judge Reinhold and John Ashton. Beverly Hills Cop was not only a smash at the box office, but its accompanying soundtrack album racked up some impressive numbers on the music charts as well. It spent sixty-two weeks on the US Billboard Album chart with two weeks at the number 1 spot in late June of 1985.
