As a hige fan of Gabriel's first four albums, I initially rejected this album for reasons I don't recall... too mellow? too popular? no real drum workouts like on previous efforts? I don't know. I do remember everyone I knew loved the album so maybe I was just being contrary.
The tipping point may have been hearing "In Your Eyes" three years later in Say Anything... I really can't say. All I know is that I didn't use to like So and some years later, all of a sudden I did. It is still one of those albums that everyone I know has, only in CD form instead of vinyl.
