Today (June 30th) marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of The Game, the eighth studio album from Queen. It went to number 17 in France, number 11 in Australia and New Zealand, number 10 in Italy, number 7 in Sweden, number 5 in Austria and Japan, number 2 in Germany and Norway, and number 1 in Canada, the Netherlands, and the UK. Here in the US, it went to number 8 on the Billboard R&B chart and number 1 on the US Billboard Album chart. It spent forty-three weeks on that latter chart, with five weeks at the top spot.

Mötley Crüe - Theatre of Pain
Today (June 21st) marks the thirtieth anniversary of Theatre of Pain, the third studio album from Mötley Crüe. This multi-Platinum seller went to number 44 in Germany, number 39 in Australia, number 36 in the UK, number 25 in Switzerland, number 11 in Canada, number 7 in Sweden and number 6 on the US Billboard Album chart. it spent a total of seventy-two weeks on the latter chart. The album is dedicated to Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley of Hanoi Rocks who was killed in a car crash that also saw Vince Neil's arrest for manslaughter on a drunk driving charge.

Yesterday (June 10th) marked the thirtieth anniversary of Wide Awake in America, a four song EP from U2. The record spent twenty-seven weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 37. In the UK, it was not released until October of 1987 where it went to number 11.

This month marks the thirtieth anniversary of Luxury of Life, the debut album from the British R&B group Five Star. The group consisted of siblings Delroy, Denise, Doris, Lorraine and Stedman Pearson. The album went Platinum in the UK, peaking at number 12. Here in the US, it spent forty-seven weeks on the Billboard Album chart with a top spot of 57; it also hit number 14 on the US Billboard R&B chart.

Today (June 1st) marks the 30th anniversary of Hunting High and Low, the debut album from the Norwegian pop band a-ha. It was a huge International smash, generating four big singles.
