Kim Carnes - Mistaken Identity (35th anniversary)

This month marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Mistaken Identity, the sixth studio album from Kim Carnes. This 1981 release spent fifty-two weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, including four weeks at the number 1 spot. The album earned Carnes nominations in two Grammy categories the following year - for Best Pop Female and for Album of the Year.

Barbra Streisand - Emotion

This month marks the thirtieth anniversary of Emotion, the twenty-third studio album from Barbra Streisand. The Platinum seller spent twenty-eight weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 19. It also reached number 44 in Canada, number 40 in Germany, number 25 in New Zealand, number 23 in Sweden, number 17 in Switzerland, number 15 in the UK, number 13 in Australia, Austria and Norway, and number 11 in the Netherlands.

Kenny Rogers - What About Me?

This month marks the thirtieth anniversary of What About Me?, the fourteenth studio album from Kenny Rogers. It spent thirty-one weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 31. It also went to number 26 on the Canadian Country chart and number 9 on the US Billboard Country chart.

Kim Carnes - Café Racers

This month marks the thirtieth anniversary of Café Racers, the eighth studio album from Kim Carnes. This one peaked at number 97 on the US Billboard Album chart.

Kim Carnes - Voyeur

Following her smash hit album Mistaken Identity from the year prior (click here for my review of that one), Kim Carnes was ready to come back for more with Voyeur. As her seventh studio album, this August 1982 release did not live up to its predecessor’s reputation. In the US, it stopped its climb on the Billboard Hot 200 at number 49. It went to number 68 in the UK, number 26 in Canada and number 21 in Australia.

Happy sixty-seventh birthday later this week (on July 20th) to American singer-songwriter Kim Carnes.

It spent four weeks at the number 1 spot of the US Billboard Album chart(from June 27th to July 24th that summer). The album earned Carnes nominations in two Grammy categories the following year - for Best Pop Female and for Album of the Year.
