UB40 - Present Arms

Today (May 29th) marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Present Arms, the second studio album from UB40. As with their debut, this 1981 record went Platinum in the UK, peaking at number 2. It also hit number 28 in Australia, number 20 in the Netherlands and number 13 in New Zealand.

UB40 - Geffery Morgan

Today (October 16th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of Geffery Morgan, the fifth studio album from UB40. The album charted at number 49 in Sweden, number 27 in New Zealand, number 9 in the Netherlands, and number 3 in the UK. Here in the US, it spent twenty-six weeks on the Billboard Album chart with a top spot of 60.

UB40 - Labour of Love

This month marks the thirtieth anniversary of Labour of Love, the fourth studio album from UB40. This multi-Platinum seller from 1983, featuring all cover tunes, went to number 14 on the US Billboard Album chart, and number 1 in the Netherlands, New Zealand and the UK. Rolling Stone magazine ranked it at number 98 on its list of the 100 Greatest Albums of the 80’s.

UB40 - UB44

September of 1982 was the released date of UB44, the third studio album from the British reggae/pop band UB40. Just as the band's name came from a British unemployment benefits form, so too does the name of this album (a UB44 means they missed their "signing on" appointment).

The record reached number 4 on the UK charts and number 15 in New Zealand. Today, we will take a listen to it to celebrate its thirtieth anniversary.
