Kate Bush - Hounds of Love (30th anniversary)

Today (September 16th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of Hounds of Love, the fifth studio album from Kate Bush. This one spent twenty-seven weeks on the US Billboard Album chart back in the latter part of 1985 and early 1986, peaking at number 30.

Peter Gabriel - Peter Gabriel III (35th anniversary)

This week (May 16th) marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Peter Gabriel's third solo studio album. with a twenty-nine week total run on the US Billboard Album chart, it peaked at number 22.

Kate Bush - The Dreaming

Today (September 13th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of The Dreaming, the fourth studio album from English singer/songwriter Kate Bush. It was also the first album of hers that she produced on her own. While the album only reached number 157 on the US Billboard Hot 200, it did much better around the world. It reached number 45 in Sweden, number 36 in Japan, number 23 in Germany, number 22 in Australia, number 12 in Norway, number 8 in France, number 5 in the Netherlands, and number 3 in the UK. The album generated four singles and earned it a place on the list of 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

Peter Gabriel - Peter Gabriel III

On May 16th of 1980, the former member of Genesis released his third studio album. Like the first two and the fourth, it was simply titled Peter Gabriel but it is also known by its designation of three (III) and by the name “Melt” due to the melting facial image of the artist on the front cover. No matter what you call it, it was his best selling solo album up to that time as it went to number 1 in the UK and number 22 on the US Billboard Album chart. It spent a total of twenty-nine weeks on the latter chart.

The album was ranked number 45 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 Greatest Albums of the 80’s. Q magazine ranked it at number 53 on its list of the 100 Greatest British Albums Ever and number 29 on its list of the 40 Best Albums of the ‘80s.

On September 16th of 1985, English singer Kate Bush released her fifth studio album Hounds of Love. It would become her second number 1 album in her native UK, and one of her highest charting albums world-wide (it went to number 1 also in Ireland, number 2 in Germany, number 6 in Australia, number 7 in Canada, number 9 in France and Sweden, number 12 in Norway, number 17 in New Zealand, and number 30 in the United States).

The album is split - the first side contains more "accessible" pop songs, four of which were released as singles. The side shares the same name as the album.
