Wild Cards has been one of those series that I have been on-board since the very start in 1987. It has moved across several publishers over the decades, so it is nice to see that Tor is collecting more of these tales that never made it to physical print previously. This even dozen of short stories, set in a rich world of heroes and freaks, were written and posted online between 2013 and 2022.

"The Thing About Growing up in Jokertown" was an enjoyable piece that combined aspects of the franchise with the specific location of New York City (a place always dear to my heart). "Skin Deep" was definitely my favorite overall, followed by "Grow". A couple stories ("The Flight of Morpho Girl" and "Naked, Stoned, and Stabbed") did share some overlapping characters thanks to Denton's involvement in both. That's as close as this collection gets to the interconnectivity we usually see in a Wild Cards volume as former ones usually centered all the tales around a location or theme or some other plot element.

Fans of the series will like how these tales fit into the overall history and timeline of the frachise.
