Pretty In Pink (soundtrack) (30th anniversary)

Welcome to another Soundtrack Sunday.

Today (February 28th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of the soundtrack from Pretty In Pink. The album spent a grand total of twenty-seven weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 5. The album appears on the Huffington Post's list of "Best Movie Soundtracks: the 15 Film Music Compilations That'll Change Your Life" and on Rolling Stone's "The 25 Greatest Soundtracks of All Time".

Wow! is it the 30th Anniversary of Pretty In Pink already?

My wife and I saw it when we were dating back in 1986 and we went and saw it again on the big screen this past Valentine's Day in a special 30th Anniversary engagement. Looked great, sounded great and I guess the only disappointing part was the teased never before seen footage of the original filmed ending. Turned out to be one of the features from the Everything's Duckie Edition of the DVD so we HAD already seen it. And there was no actual footage of the original ending - only a few still photos and some behind the scenes footage of the crew filming the scene.
