Hanoi Rocks - All Those Wasted Years

This month marks the thirtieth anniversary of the release of All Those Wasted Years, the first live album from the Finnish rock band Hanoi Rocks. Initially pressings of the album misspelled wasted as "waisted"; this was corrected in later releases. It was recorded in December of 1983 at the Marquee Club in London.

Much of the show's set-list came from the band's first four albums, including For 1982's Oriental Beat (click here for that review) and 1983's Back to Mystery City (click here for that review).

Side one begins with a cover of the Chantays' 1964 surf-rock instrumental "Pipeline". It is followed by "Oriental Beat", "Back to Mystery City", "Motorvatin'" and "Until I Get You".

Side two starts with "Mental Beat", "Don't Never Leave Me", "Tragedy", and "Malibu Beach Nightmare".

Side three opens with "Visitor", "11th Street Kids", "Taxi Driver", and "Lost in the City".

Side four includes "Lightnin' Bar Blues" and "Beer and a Cigarette". "Under My Wheels" is a cover of the 1971 song by Alice Cooper. "I Feel Alright" is a cover of a song by Iggy Pop and the Stooges. "Train Kept A-Rollin'" is a cover of the 1951 blues song by Tiny Bradshaw.

This album was also released as a concert film, some clips of which I have seen online. You can definitely see that Hanoi Rocks put on fantastic live shows.
