Happy fifty-third birthday today (December 7th) to Tim Butler of the Psychedelic Furs. The English songwriter and bassist was a co-founder of the band along with his older brother Richard. The group started out from the emerging punk scene in the late 1970's. While the group was influential on the music scene, particularly on college radio stations, their only big crossover hit was the title track for the film Pretty In Pink (click here for that soundtrack review).
After the Furs broke up, Tim and Richard Buttler were also founding members of the alternative band Love Spit Love in the early 90's.
