Today (September 21st) is the thirty-fifth anniversary of Dream Police, the fourth studio album from Cheap Trick. This 1979 release spent twenty-five weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 6.

Cheap Trick - Cheap Trick At Budokan

Welcome to another edition of Seventies Saturday.

This month marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Cheap Trick At Budokan, the first live album from the American rock band Cheap Trick. It was taken from the April 28th and 30th shows from 1978 in Japan (with 12,000 screaming fans in attendance at each show) and released world-wide in February of 1979.

Cheap Trick - Next Position Please

This week (August 15th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of Next Position Please, the seventh studio album from Cheap Trick. It peaked at number 75 in Japan and at number 61 on the US Billboard Hot 200. It was produced by Todd Rundgren.

Cheap Trick - Heaven Tonight

Welcome to another edition of Seventies Sunday.

This month marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Heaven Tonight, the third studio album from Cheap Trick. This May of 1978 release went to number 84 in Australia, number 48 on the US Billboard Hot 200, and number 11 in Japan. It went on to become a Platinum seller in the US and Canada.

Cheap Trick - One on One

Today (April 30th) marks the 30th anniversary release of Cheap Trick's sixth studio album. One on One from 1982 went to number 39 on the US Billboard Hot 200, number 77 in Japan and number 25 in Australia. Produced by Roy Thomas Baker, it was the first album by the group to feature new bassist Jon Brant (Pete Comita who joined the group in 1980 left during the initial recording sessions for this record).

Cheap Trick - Dream Police

Happy sixty-fifth birthday today (December 22nd) to guitarist and songwriter Rick Nielsen.

In late September of 1979, Nielsen and his band-mates of Cheap Trick released their fourth and best selling studio album Dream Police. The record went to number 6 on the US Billboard Album chart, number 7 in Australia and number 4 in Japan; it was certified platinum by the time the decade ended a few months later.
