This month marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Three Imaginary Boys, the debut album from the Cure. This 1979 record went to number 140 in France, number 44 in the UK and number 37 in New Zealand.

The Cure - The Top

Today (April 22nd) marks the thirtieth anniversary of The Top, the fifth studio album from the Cure. Here in the US, it spent four weeks on the Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 180. Around the globe, it did much better; it went to number 55 in Australia, number 31 in Sweden, number 23 in New Zealand, number 12 in the Netherlands and number 10 in the UK.

The Cure - Japanese Whispers

This week (December 6th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of Japanese Whispers, the third studio album from the Cure. This 1983 record hit number 181 on the US Billboard Album chart, number 26 in the UK, number 13 in Australia, and number 8 in New Zealand. The album was a compilation of singles and B-sides that the group released during the year from November 1982 to that time and included the tracks that made up of The Walk extended play that had been released in North America during the summer of 1983.

The Cure - Pornography

This week marks the thirtieth anniversary of the release of the Cure's fourth studio album; Pornography was released on May 3rd, 1982. Chart-wise, the album went to number 45 in Sweden, number 81 in France, number 9 in New Zealand and number 8 in the band's native UK. Many consider this one the most gothic records by the group due to dark lyrics and heavy musical sounds. The album was included on the list of the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.
