Happy Birthday, Dale Bozzio

Happy fifty-seventh birthday today (March 2nd) to singer Dale Bozzio.

Born in Medford, Massachusetts, Dale Frances Consalvi had aspirations to be an actress. However, she switched gears when she stared working at the Playboy Club in Boston (where she was named Bunny of the Year in 1975). She was invited to Los Angeles at the request of Hugh Hefner which allowed her to expand her circle of contacts.

In 1979, she was hired to sing in Frank Zappa's rock opera Joe's Garage. It was through that she met future husband Terry Bozzio and guitarist Warren Cuccurullo. The trio founded the band Missing Persons.

Happy sixty-first birthday yesterday (December 27th) to drummer Terry Bozzio.

The San Francisco born Bozzio was inspired to become a drummer after seeing the Beatles perform on the Ed Sullivan Show. After high school, he went to the College of Marin on a music scholarship. After school, he played in a number of local jazz groups.

Missing Person - Missing Persons

Happy fifty-fifth birthday this week (December 8th) to Brooklyn born rocker Warren Cuccurullo. In his teen years, he was a devote fan of Frank Zappa and traveled to many of the band's concerts throughout the northeast. At age 22, he auditioned as a guitarist for Zappa's new road band. That led to some studio work on with the band on Joe's Garage.

In 1980, Cuccurullo decided to form a band with husband and wife team Terry and Dale Bozzio and friend Patrick O'Hearn. Thus Missing Persons was born. They put together a four-song, self-titled Missing Persons EP to help promote their band while on tour. In 1982, the album finally entered the US Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 46 and spending a total of forty-seven weeks on the charts.

Missing Persons - Spring Session M

The Los Angeles based new-wave/rock band Missing Persons was founded in 1980. They put together a four-song, self-titled EP to help promote their band while on tour. Before they signed a deal with Capital Records, the EP was re-released in 1982 with a change in songs.

Their first major label release was the October 1982 Spring Session M. For those wordsmiths among you, you will notice that the title of the record is in fact an anagram for the band‘s name.
