Thomas Dolby - Blinded By Science (30th anniversary)

This month marks the thirtieth anniversary of the release of Blinded By Science, a five-song EP (extended play) album by Thomas Dolby. Timed when his videos were hitting heavy rotation on MTV, it really helped garner him additional fans here in the United States.

Happy Birthday, Thomas Dolby

Today (October 14th) we celebrate the fifty-forth birthday of English musician and producer Thomas Dolby.

Born in London, Thomas Morgan Robertson got his first start in music in the choir when he around 10 years old. He soon learned how to play guitar (with folk tunes) followed by piano (which included an interest in jazz). He got into synthesizers in the middle of the 1970's and that changed his musical direction yet again.

Thomas Dolby - Blinded By Science

The January of 1982 EP release Blinded By Science was my first exposure to the musical master-works of British new wave/synthpop artist Thomas Dolby. It was during my Junior year of high school when I was listening to the local college radio station when I heard the songs on this disk. It didn't take long for me to seek out the vinyl at the local Record Giant.

The record charted at number 20 on the US Billboard Hot 200.
