Alan Parsons Project - The Turn of a Friendly Card (35th anniversary)

This month marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of The Turn of a Friendly Card, the fifth studio album from the Alan Parsons Project. This 1980 progressive rock album, which told the story of a middle-aged man who gambles it all and loses, spent fifty-eight weeks total on the US Billboard Album charts and peaked at number 13. It also generated two Top-20 hit singles.

Alan Parsons Project - Eve

Today (August 27th) marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Eve, the fourth studio album from the Alan Parsons Project. This 1979 release went to number 74 in the UK, number 10 in both Canada and Sweden, number 6 in Norway, number 2 in Austria, and number 1 in Germany. Here in the US, it spent twenty-seven weeks on the Billboard Album chart and peaked at number 13.

Alan Parsons Project - Ammonia Avenue

Today (February 7th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of Ammonia Avenue, the seventh studio album from the Alan Parsons Project. This 1984 release went to number 29 in Canada, number 24 in the UK, number 15 on the US Billboard Album Chart (it spent twenty-six weeks on the chart), number 8 in Sweden, number 5 in Austria and Norway, and number 1 in Germany and Switzerland.

Alan Parsons Project - Pyramid

Welcome to another edition of Seventies Sunday.

This month marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Pyramid, the third studio album from the Alan Parsons Project. This 1978 concept album, which focused on the pyramids of Giza, peaked at number 49 in the UK, number 26 on the US Billboard Hot 200, and number 25 in Canada. Pyramid power and the legend of Tutankhamen (aka King Tut) were very popular in the US and UK at the time.

Alan Parsons Project - Eye in the Sky

This month marks the thirtieth anniversary of the release of Eye in the Sky, the sixth studio album by the British progressive rock group known as the Alan Parsons Project. This June of 1982 LP followed the successful The Turn of a Friendly Card from late 1980 (click here for that review). It went to number 27 in the group’s native UK, number 8 in Sweden, number 3 in Norway, and number 1 in both Austria and Germany; over in North America, it reached number 3 in Canada and number 7 on the US Billboard Hot 200.

It also generated two Top-20 hit singles.
