1983 - 30th Anniversary Wrap Up

With the final day of the year upon us once more, I thought I would give a quick list recap of all the albums from 1983 that I reviewed for their thirtieth anniversaries this past year. How many albums was that exactly?

Would you believe...334!! Yes, that is nearly one album per day from 1983. The funny thing is, as the year wound down I found dozens more that I could have included as well. I guess they'll have to wait for the 35th anniversary run in 2018.

As with 2012, I really enjoyed this concentrated focus on a specific year's worth of music. 1983 was a big year for me - the end of high school and the beginning of college. These albums include some of my all-time favorites. And, I found some new ones that I had not heard before that I added to my music library as well.

I hope you enjoyed the journey, because tomorrow is a new day of a new year. The perfect time to hit up the 30th anniversary albums of 1984. I hope you stick around for that. Again, I thank you for reading and commenting (here, on Twitter, on Facebook, etc.).

Below is the full list, alphabetically, in case you missed any.

  1. Congrats on another great year of posts. Since you post at least once a day, I thought it was odd that you didn't feature at least 365 albums from 1983 but then I remembered you have regular Seventies and Soundtracks features. More of those please in 2014.

Can't forget your wonderful Top 104 Albums of 1982 post either. It was one of my favorites!

  2. Herc, usually the first few months of each year are kind of lighter on those releases, so that is when I will back-fill with 70's stuff. Don't worry - the formula will continue through 2014.

I definitely plan to provide my Favorite 100 albums of 1983 post during the early part of 2014 as well. I enjoyed doing that ranking for 1982 records.

  3. Have you ever considered expanding your flashback range? Not just 30-35 years but sat 20-45 years so you could cover albums from 1969, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989 and even 1994. Surely the book that originally inspired you features albums from all of those years. Just a thought.

I'm simultaneously working on Top Album lists for both 1983 and 1984 so we are of the same mind. I started to do 1981 list first but got too frustrated with trying to establish an order so I moved on to 1983 and 1984 which seems to going a little easier. Starting new blog this Sunday with all the records I bought in 1985 - not surprisingly, most of those albums are from 1983-1984.
