Pat Benatar - Seven the Hard Way

This 1985 release rolled on up to number 69 in the UK, number 42 in France, number 36 in Canada, number 32 in Sweden and number 19 in Australia. Here in the US, it spent twenty weeks on the Billboard Album chart with a top spot of number 26.

Oingo Boingo - Dead Man's Party

Today (October 28th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of Dead Man's Party, the fifth studio album from Oingo Boingo. This 1985 release spent sixteen weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 98.

ZZ Top - Afterburner (30th anniversary)

Tomorrow (October 28th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of Afterburner, the ninth studio album from ZZ Top. This 1985 release spent a total of seventy weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 4.

Aretha Franklin - Aretha

Today (October 25th) marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Aretha, the twenty-eighth studio album from the “Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin. This 1980 release spent thirty weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 32. It also reached number 6 on the US Billboard R&B chart and won her a Grammy award for Best Female R&B Vocal.

Krush Groove (soundtrack) (30th anniversary)

Welcome to another edition of Soundtrack Saturday.

Today we're celebrating the 30th anniversary of the soundtrack from Krush Groove, the rap-infused film starring the Fat Boys, Run-D.M.C., Sheila E. and Kurtis Blow. The album spent a total of twenty weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 79.

The multi-Platinum seller from 1985 scored at number 7 in Australia, France and Switzerland, number 4 in Sweden, number 3 in Canada and New Zealand, number 2 in Italy, and number 1 in the Netherlands and the UK. Here in the US, it spent forty-two weeks on the Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 10.

Donna Summer - The Wanderer

Today (October 20th) marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of The Wanderer, the eighth studio album from Donna Summer and her first release on the Geffen Records label. This 1980 release spent eighteen weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 13. It also went to number 55 in the UK, number 54 in Germany, number 18 in Australia and Norway, number 16 in New Zealand, number 15 in Sweden, and number 12 on the US Billboard R&B chart.

Morris Day - Color of Success (30th anniversary)

Today (October 18th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of Color of Success, the first solo studio album from Morris Day. This 1985 release

spent thirty-one weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 37. It also rose all the way to number 7 on the US Billboard R&B chart.

Bruce Springsteen - The River

Today (October 17th) marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of The River, the double-length fifth studio album from Bruce Springsteen. This multi-Platinum 1980 release flowed to number 65 in Ireland, number 31 in West Germany, number 28 in Japan, number 8 in Australia, number 5 in Spain, number 3 in France, number 2 in the Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden and the UK, and number 1 in Canada and Norway. Here in the US, it spent one hundred and eight weeks on the Billboard Album charts that included four weeks at the number 1 spot.

The Alarm - Strength

This month marks the thirtieth anniversary of Strength, the second studio album from the Alarm. The album peaked at number 18 in the UK. Here in the US, it spent thirty-six weeks on the US Billboard Album chart with a top spot of 39.

INXS - Listen Like Thieves

Today (October 14th) marks the thirtieth anniversary of Listen Like Thieves, the fifth studio album from INXS. The multi-Platinum seller hit number 46 in the UK, number 30 in Switzerland, number 24 in Canada, number 11 on the US Billboard Album chart (it spent fifty-five weeks total on that chart), number 4 in New Zealand, and number 1 (holding that spot for two weeks) in Australia.

The Jets - The Jets (30th anniversary)

This month marks the thirtieth anniversary of the self-titled debut album from the Jets, the brothers and sisters of the Wolfgramm family. The record hit the US Billboard Album chart in early 1986 and then had a seventy week run with a peak of number 21.

This certified Gold selling record spent fifty-two weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 45; it also went to number 7 on the US Billboard R&B Album chart. This critically acclaimed album was ranked number 87 on Pitchfork Media's Top 100 Albums of the 1980s and number 206 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All-Time list.

Talking Heads - Remain in Light (35th anniversary)

Tomorrow (October 8th) marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Remain in Light, the fourth studio album from Talking Heads. The album spent twenty-seven weeks on the US Billboard Album chart, peaking at number 19.
