Continuing with my viewing and reviewing of season 2 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer...
***SPOILERS***
Episode 4: Inca Mummy Girl
Synopsis: A beautiful Inca princess who was buried alive in a tomb 500 years ago is accidentally brought back to life in the Sunnydale Natural History Museum. (written: Matt Kiene & Joe Reinkemeyer, airdate 10/6/97)
This one was enjoyable. The writing was very snappy and funny in parts, the premise another classic horror comic spin, and it dealt again with teen romance. A perfect combo. Poor Xander. Can't catch a break. He should learn the rule: if he's attracted to a hot, new stranger in town then she's probably some kind of killer. ;) I love the continuity nod with the line "You're not a praying mantis, are you?". Perfect. And, Seth Green shows up in the band as Oz and he's interested in Willow. About time she had somebody mooning after her.

Oz! Oz! Oz! Oz!
Yeah, I'm an Oz fan. Forgot that this was his first appearance. Great ep - having fun with another high school experience staple...the exchange student (and the Hollywood interpretation of that, where said exchange student must always be hot). Poor Xander indeed. Bugs and mummies. Not a break to be had. Loved Willow's costume for the dance! So her. Loved the great moment where she had to turn her whole body around to look for Buffy - and the joke with the shrug. "Next time, just say 'shrug'). I like the bit of sympathy for the gal - she WAS just an innocent teen girl and this was done to her. But now, she just plain SUCKS...life, that is... Trivia for you, in case you didn't know: Danny Strong, who plays fellow Sunnydale High Schooler Jonathan (the one Inca Mummy Girl almost chowed on instead of Xander) just won an emmy for writing the HBO film "Recount", about the Bush election.
Yeah, amazing how all of them wer pretty exchange students - except, perhaps, the dude that got sucked by the mummy. Yes, the "shrug" was funny. I seem to recall her wordizing a "gulp" a few episodes later too. Nice play there carrying it over.
